Amazon launched Luna back in 2020, well, at least unveiled it. Amazon Luna was aimed to give competition to the likes of Xbox Cloud Gaming and Nvidia GeForce Now. It, however, took Amazon an entire 18 months to launch the gaming platform. In this blog. Proxy Geeko will help you understand the specifics of Amazon Luna and all that you can do with it.
What is Amazon Luna?
Amazon luna is a cloud gaming service offered by Amazon that offers multiple games on a variety of devices, such as smartphones, tablets, Amazon Fire devices. Amazon Luna provides you with a gaming experience without the requirement of hardware gaming equipment. Most of the work is done on the cloud, which eliminates any further need for hardware devices.
When did Amazon Luna release?
Amazon luna was first unveiled at an Amazon event in the year 2020. Officially it came to the US in March 2022 to the general public. A year later the service was made available to three other countries in March 2023- the UK, Canada, Germany. Amazon is still working to make it available to other countries but no tentative date has been set yet.
Why Choose Amazon Luna?
1. Access to a vast collection of games
Amazon Luna’s Prime-themed free games for September 2023 appear to be a “race.” Most of the games included fall into this genre, although they cover several subsections.
2. High-Quality resolution
Luna delivers a promising 1080p resolution with a speed of 60 frames per second. That gives you a visually stunning graphic. Do not expect a 4K resolution for a quality gaming experience.
3. Cross-platform play
Almost all the games on Amazon Luna support cross platform play. You can start a game on your PC and just as easily resume the same game on your TV. You can also collaborate with friends via another cloud gaming service, console or PC.
4. No need for expensive gaming hardware
Since most of the heavy lifting of the entire gaming experience is carried out on the cloud, you do not need to get yourself expensive hardware like a gaming console or a gaming specific PC.
The most you need is a stable internet access with a speed of at least 10 Mbps.

Amazon Luna Discontinuation
Amazon is removing Luna Gaming from its PC and Mac apps. Owners can now use their own browsers to access the games from Amazon Luna. Users who have Luna installed can continue to use the service, but new downloads will no longer be available at this point. The app displays the message : “Gameplay will no longer be supported on this client starting 10/2023. Get the full experience by launching Luna in Chrome. Learn More.” The move could possibly be to enhance the browser experience which works better for a lot of gamers.
Amazon Luna Reviews
Amazon Luna has had its problems for a while now. A lot of gamers have complained that the input lag is atrocious and makes games difficult to play. The game, however, experiences low latency that makes it a good option. Another merit of the game is that Amazon Prime members do get a few games on Amazon Luna for free. Most of the other channels are cheap and affordable. The game catalog could, however, be better. The resolution that stops at 1080p does not stand tall in front of the 4K resolution.
Amazon Luna is far cheaper than the traditional Playstation 5 or Xbox but Luna sacrifices graphic integrity in the name of lesser hardware requirement.
Amazon Luna prices
Access to Amazon Luna is included with an Amazon Prime membership, which will cost you £9 per month or £95 per year. provides access to only a very limited number of Prime Gaming titles that rotate monthly. Adding Luna+ to your plan costs an additional £9/month, while Ubisoft+ and Jackbox Games subscriptions cost £15/month and £4/month respectively.
Conclusion
While Amazon Luna has potential to develop a good market in cloud based gaming, it is yet to infuse good specs to its column. The platform is easy to access and the games have got a lot of control options. One problem that you can encounter is that the games are continuously being added and removed, because of which you are completely at the mercy of Amazon for gameplay selection. Though not a solid match for PS or Xbox, Luna delivers a staggering performance for its specs. For more information related to technical products, please visit the official website of Proxygeeko.
